5 Best Ways to Earn ANA Mileage Club Miles

ANA Mileage Club continues to be one of the more popular American Express airline partners. There are a few reasons for this with the primary reason being the competitiveness of the ANA miles redemption chart. You simply do not need as many ANA miles to book award flights compared to competing programs.

The ANA program is not all roses though. Two of the main downsides you’ll hear is that ANA miles expire with no way to extend the expiration date, and you must book round-trip award flights. With that background, let’s see how to earn ANA Mileage Club miles to book your next flight.

Earn Mileage Club miles with credit cards

American Express and Marriott are the two credit card programs that partner with ANA Mileage Club. The points that you earn can be transferred directly to ANA. AmEx points transfer at a 1:1 ratio while Marriott points transfer at a 3:1 ratio. You earn 5,000 bonus points with every 60,000 Marriott points you transfer to ANA.

Some of my favorite AmEx cards include the Amex Platinum, Amex Gold Card, and Amex Blue Business Plus. You earn 5x points on airfare with the Amex Platinum. The Amex Gold Card earns 4x points at restaurants and US grocery stores. With the Amex Blue Business Plus, you earn 2x points on all transactions.

Marriott cards you are likely to hear good things about are the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant and Marriott Bonvoy Business. The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant and Marriott Bonvoy Business both earn 6x points at Marriott.

The ANA credit card does earn ANA miles. However, its earn rates are not competitive and the card does not currently offer a material sign up bonus.

Earn Mileage Club miles by flying ANA flights

ANA offers three ways to earn miles by flying: ANA domestic flights, ANA international flights, and partner airline flights. You calculate the number of miles you earn by multiplying the number of miles of the flight by the booking class. Here’s the ANA miles calculator for reference.

For example, an ANA international flight from Washington-Dulles (IAD) to Tokyo (HND) is 6,762 miles per the ANA mileage chart. A first-class ticket in the F fare class has a 150% accrual rate so you would earn 10,143 miles for this flight.

Earn Mileage Club miles flying partner airline flights

ANA Star Alliance partner airline flights earn miles in much the same way as ANA flights. For example, a United flight from Houston (IAH) to Buenos Aires (EZE) is 5,062 miles. A business-class C, D, Z fare class ticket has a 125% accrual rate so you would earn 6,328 miles.

The Mileage Club programs also partner with airlines like Etihad that are outside of the Star Alliance. So, you would earn 10,301 miles by booking an F, A, R first-class Etihad flight from New York (JFK) to Abu Dhabi (AUH). This flight is 6,867 miles and first-class has a 150% accrual rate.

Earn ANA miles with ANA Travel Partners

Not only can you earn ANA miles by flying, but you can also earn miles with your hotel stays and car rentals. ANA Mileage Club partners with hotels and car rental agencies to give you a way to earn miles with your spending.

On the hotel front, ANA partners with the likes of IHG Rewards Club, World of Hyatt, and Marriott Bonvoy. You earn 500 miles on your Hyatt stays that include brands like Park Hyatt and The Unbound Collection. IHG stays earn 3 miles per dollar and Marriott stays earn 1-2 miles per dollar that you spend.

Car rentals are another way to earn miles with ANA travel partners like Hertz and National. These two brands and Avis earn 30-100 miles per day of your rental while Alamo earns 300 miles per rental.

Earn ANA Miles by with ANA Global Mileage Mall

One of my favorite places to start my online shopping is Cashback Monitor. However, if you need to earn ANA miles, check out its Global Mileage Mall. You earn miles in much the same way as going through travel portals you see on Cashback Monitor.

ANA partners with the likes of Apple allowing you to earn miles when you spend online. Simply click through the portal and you earn miles based on the earn rate of the partner and the amount that you spend. In the case of Apple, you currently earn 1.7x ANA miles with every $1 that you spend.
