Quotes of the Week
The chief task in life is simply this: to identify and separate matters so that I can say clearly to myself which are externals not under my control, and which have to do with the choices I actually control. – Epictetus
You choose to let things bother you. You can just as easily choose not to notice the irritating offender, to consider the matter trivial and unworthy of your interest. That is the powerful move. What you do not react to cannot drag you down in a futile engagement. – Robert Greene
Mastery is the best goal because the rich can’t buy it, the impatient can’t rush it, the privileged can’t inherit it, and nobody can steal it. You can only earn it through hard work. Mastery is the ultimate status. —David Sivers
Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go. – TS Eliot
It’s the way you learn to play the cards you’ve been dealt, rather than the hand itself, that determines the worth of your participation in the game. – David Milch
In life the challenge is not so much to figure out how best to play the game; the challenge is to figure out what game you’re playing. – Kwame Anthony Appiah
Music of the Week

Article of the Week
“In life the challenge is not so much to figure out how best to play the game; the challenge is to figure out what game you’re playing” is one of many quotes that jumped out while reading The Playing Field. Another quote by Stan Druckenmiller “There is a phrase on Wall Street that I think is completely wrong: bulls make money, bears make money, and pigs get slaughtered. It takes courage to be a pig, but you want to be a pig with discipline. Three or four times a year you have conviction, and it is when your conviction is high that you have to bet big.”, helps frame how investors think about hitting the “fat pitch” as Warren Buffett likes to call it.
Film of the Week
Oceans 13 is a film about how “Danny Ocean (George Clooney) and his gang hatch an ambitious plot for revenge after ruthless casino owner Willy Bank (Al Pacino) double-crosses Reuben Tishkoff, Danny’s friend and mentor.” Before starting Oceans 13, I watched Oceans 11 and Oceans 12, all films that feature some of my factor actors including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Don Cheadle.
TV Series of the Week
The Money Game: LSU is an Amazon Prime Video docuseries following “six student-athletes at LSU as they navigate the new world. The series stars an ensemble cast, which consists of Olivia Dunne, Jayden Daniels, Angel Reese, Flau’jae Johnson, Alia Armstrong, and Trace Young.” The series focused on the “evolving landscape of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities” that allow these athletes “to profit from endorsements.” NIL is truly the Wild West right now.
