Hi All,

Below is your weekly dose of a list of things I’m reading, watching, listening to, or thinking about from my Friday Five No. 235 June 21 2024 newsletter. If this message was forwarded to you, sign up for this newsletter using this link.

Quote of the Week

“The biggest problem of success is that the world conspires to stop you doing the thing that you do, because you are successful. There was a day when I looked up and realized that I had become someone who professionally replied to email, and who wrote as a hobby.” – Neil Gaiman

Video of the Week

How to Start a Business or Podcast From Scratch | Tim Ferriss is so good. Ferriss shares what it takes to start a new project from scratch. My five most important takeaways in no particular order are: 1) Create your own category, 2) Create quality work, 3) Scratch your own itch, 4) Write the book, blog post, or podcast you can’t find yourself, and 5) 1,000 true fans – they will become your marketing force

Article of the Week

Google CEO Sundar Pichai on AI-powered search and the future of the web dives deep into all things AI from the head of Google. I’m fascinated by all of the AI use cases but am not naive to think there aren’t very real consequences if AI isn’t deployed properly. Pichai’s comment on creators and artists “There is a deep tension between the vision Google has for the future and the very real fears and anxieties creators and website owners are feeling right now about how search has changed and how AI might swallow the internet forever.” is telling on how he and Google think about the AI ecosystem.

Film of the Week

Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can is loaded with A-list actors. The plot centers around “Frank Abagnale, Jr. (Leonardo DiCaprio) who worked as a doctor, a lawyer, and a co-pilot for a major airline — all before his 18th birthday.” Abagnale was the master of deception and a forger who “At the age of 17, became the most successful bank robber in the history of the U.S.” Abagnale’s exploits eventually get the attention of the FBI where “FBI Agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks) makes it his prime mission to capture Frank and bring him to justice, but Frank is always one step ahead of him.” Catch Me If You Can is brilliant, loaded with heavy-hitter actors, has a fascinating plot, and is hilarious.
