America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses is one of my favorite lists to read (yes, I realize I’m in the minority). When reading this list, you’ll notice the Streamsong Resort has not one, not two, but three courses in the top 35. Streamsong Red clocks in at number 20 followed by Streamsong Blue at number 26 and Streamsong Black at number 34. Where else in the US, other than Bandon Dunes, are you going to find three courses at the same resort ranked this high?

There’s no question Streamsong Resort earns its stripes on America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses list. As a point of comparison, I’ve played #8 Bethpage Black, #25 Omni Homestead Resort Cascades Course, #34 The Greenbrier Old White Course, #36 Torrey Pines South Course, #38 Fallen Oak, #60 Old Waverly Golf Club, #61 Tullymore Golf Course, #63 Mossy Oak, #66 Red Sky Ranch Norman, #79 Red Sky Ranch Fazio, and #97 Poipu Bay Golf Course.

Best Time to Visit Streamsong Resort Golf Course

March-April and October-November would be the ideal months to play golf at Streamsong Resort. The highs during these spring months average 78-84 degrees and the low average 59-66 degrees. In the fall, the highs average 78-85 and the lows average 61-69 degrees.

We visited in mid-May. While not scorching hot, the temperature certainly wasn’t cool. I’m not bothered by playing golf in the mid to upper 80s with relatively high humidity. However, if you want to avoid the temps we played in target visit earlier in the spring or later in the fall.

Where to Stay at Streamsong Resort Golf Course

The lodging at Streamsong Resort is located at Streamsong Lodge. There are 228 guestrooms and suites with amenities that are great to relax after a long day on the course. Rooms overlook the pool area or the golf course itself.

Based on how remote Streamsong Resort is, you’ll want to stay on the property. Not only do you receive the full resort experience, but the convenience of being that close to the course makes everything that much easier.

Streamsong Resort Golf Black Course

Golf Digest rated the Black Course its best new course of the year in 2018 and for good reason. Golf course architect Gil Hanse designed this par-73 course. When you’re walking the course, you can’t help but notice the elevation changes, sand ridges, waste areas throughout, and some of the largest greens I’ve ever played. The punchbowl green on number nine is a sight to behold. You feel like you landed in a meteor crater. One of the more interesting parts of the Black Course is The Gauntlet, a 1+ acre putting course, and The Roundabout, a practice area with three double green complexes. The Gauntlet and The Roundabout were fun to play with a drink in hand after you’re winding down for the day.

Streamsong Resort Golf Blue Course

Designed by golf course Tom Doak, the Blue Course is a top 100 course in the US according to Golf Digest. The Blue Course also features elevation changes, wild grasses, deep ponds created by the quarry that used to be on-site, gigantic bunkering complexes, insanely tall dunes, and undulating greens. The tone is set on the Blue Course when you tee off from a hundred-plus feet in the air with expansive views of the property.

Streamsong Resort Golf Red Course

The Red Course gets my vote for the best course on the property. Designed by golf course architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, this top 100 course in the US according to Golf Digest is spectacular! The course is the complete opposite of the black course in that the Red Course is much tighter off the tee. As you’re walking the course you can’t help but take in the dunes, lakes, bunkers, and rolling terrain. The Red Course is the most challenging of the three courses for me. However, the Red Course was the most fun to play.
