February, March, and April get the best of both worlds. Temperatures range from 71-73 for the lows and 82-83 for the highs. In addition, these months generally have the least amount of monthly rainfall.

Although you might get lucky, July to December has higher temps that range from 72-77 for the lows and 82-87 for the highs. While these averages aren’t that much different than February to April, July to December is primarily in the middle of hurricane season and has higher rainfall than the other months.

Seasonal service is offered on Sun Country Airlines and United Airlines. So, here’s a rundown of nonstop flights you can book, including seasonal flights:

  • American Airlines <> Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami, Chicago–O’Hare, New York–JFK, Philadelphia
  • Delta Air Lines <> Atlanta, New York–JFK, Boston
  • Frontier Airlines <> Miami, Orlando

  • United Airlines <> Chicago–O’Hare, Houston–Intercontinental, Newark, Washington–Dulles

Once you land, you need to catch a cab at the airport or arrange travel through your hotel. The last time we visited was in 2017 and we stayed at the Buccaneer Resort. For reference, it was $52 one-way from the airport to the resort. Uber/Lyft are not available so you’ll have to use the local cab service.

Of the major hotel brands, Marriott is the only brand with a presence on St Croix with its Renaissance St Croix Carambola Beach Resort & Spa. The Buccaneer Hotel is where we stayed for a wedding ($270/night wedding rate).

Airbnb and Google Hotels are two additional resources to use. What’s nice about Google Hotels is that you can use filters to find exactly the type of property that fits your travel needs.

Day 1

Beautiful Caribbean beaches are one of the main reasons to head to St Croix. We started our first day at the beach at the Buccaneer Hotel after grabbing breakfast at the hotel. After a beach morning, it was time for lunch back at the hotel at The Mermaid restaurant.

For the afternoon of your first day, play a round of golf at Buccaneer Golf Course or Carambola Golf Club. If golf isn’t your thing, walk through the St George Village Botanical Gardens before your Cruzan Rum Distillery tour. Closeout day 1 with dinner at Brew STX, 40 Strand Eatery, Blue Water Terrace, or Savant.

Day 2

Twin City Coffee House is where I’d start day 2 before heading out to Point Udall. On your way back, history buffs may be interested in Fort Christiansvaern. Eat At Cane Bay is a spot with beach views you’re after for lunch.

Head over to Salt River Bay National Historical Park after lunch. Play another round of golf in the afternoon, choose a beach to relax at your hotel, or make your way to Rainbow Beach. Dinner at Brew STX, 40 Strand Eatery, Blue Water Terrace, or Savant closes out your 48 hours of St Coix travel.
