Alabama Shakes is a rock band hailing from Athens, Alabama. The group consists of Brittany Howard (singer, guitar), Heath Fogg (guitar), and Zac Cockrell (bassist). Blues, rock, and soul are the mixture of songs you hear from the Shakes. Some of my favorite songs include Hold On, Don’t Wanna Fight, and Hang Loose.

Book of the Week
The Marching Season by Daniel Silva starts with the peace process unfolding in Northern Ireland. Religious and political conflict are a common occurrence in this part of the world. Three acts of terrorism in a single night kick off the novel. The terrorists are a group of Protestant extremists hell bent on going back to the good old days. Retired CIA officer Michael Osbourne bursts onto the scene shortly after the attacks. His father-in-law, former US Senator Douglas Cannon, is about to become the ambassador to London. Osbourne learns that Cannon is targeted for assassination shortly after taking the London post. It’s up to Osbourne to protect his father-in-law in law knowing that peace in Northern Ireland may break down as a result of his efforts. Before saving Cannon, Osbourne comes to realize he’s a small part of a larger game. Osbourne’s fate is controlled by the Society. The Society is a clandestine organization using its power to promote global instability for its financial gain. Osbourne is pitted against his nemesis, Jean-Peal Delaroche, one of the world’s best assassins, to protect US interests. Another book to check out by Silva is The Kill Artist, which starts the incredible Gabriel Allon series.
