Benefits and Rewards

Citi recently increased the sign-up bonus on the Citi Rewards+ Card to 25,000 points from 20,000 points, which can be earned by spending $1,500 on the card within the first three months of account opening.

The card also earns 5x points per dollar spent on hotel and car rentals booked through Citi Travel through June 30, 2024. The Citi Rewards+ card has no annual fee, and cardholders can earn 2x points per dollar spent at gas stations and grocery stores on up to $6,000 in spending per year.

Unique Features

The Citi Rewards+ Card has two unique features that make it stand out – the rounding up points feature and the 10% points back annually feature.

Firstly, the card rounds up every point earned to the nearest 10 points. This means that if you spend $22 at a grocery store, you would earn 44 points rounded up to 50 points. 2x points per dollar at grocery stores equals 44 points rounded to the nearest 10 points equals 50 points.

Secondly, the card gives card members 10% points back on point redemptions of up to 100,000 points per year. For example, if you redeem 15,000 points, you would receive 1,500 points back.

Redeeming Points

One way to receive value with the points earned from the Citi Rewards+ Card is by redeeming points for gift cards at 1 cent per point. However, one of the most valuable ways to redeem points is to transfer the points to Citi’s travel partners.

It’s important to note that you can’t transfer points earned from the Citi Rewards+ card to Citi’s airline and hotel travel partners You must hold either the Citi Premier Card or the Citi Prestige card to transfer points from the Citi Rewards+ card to these cards and then transfer the points to Citi’s travel partners.

Additional Card Benefits

The Citi Rewards+ card offers access to Citi Entertainment. Citi Entertainment provides exclusive access to purchase tickets to a wide range of events, including presale tickets and exclusive experiences, making it easier to attend popular concerts, sporting events, and dining experiences.

Separately, it’s important to note that the card charges a 3% foreign transaction fee. So, this is not a card that likely makes sense to bring with you on international travel. There are a number of other cards on the market that do not charge foreign transaction fees.

Closing Thoughts

In conclusion, the Citi Rewards+ Card offers many benefits and rewards to its users, including a 25,000-point sign-up bonus, no annual fee, and 2x points per dollar spent at gas stations and grocery stores on up to $6,000 in spending per year. The card’s unique features, such as rounding up every point earned to the nearest 10 points and giving 10% points back on point redemptions, make it an attractive option for many consumers.
