The Citi Custom Cash created a new earning structure when the card was launched. This card allowed card members to earn 5% in the bonus category where you spend the most each month. Chase has now joined Citi with a similar earning structure in the fourth quarter on its Chase Freedom Flex. For more detailed information on this card, check out the Chase Freedom Flex Review, sometimes referred to as the Chase Flex Card.

One would assume American Express is looking for ways to incorporate this type of flexible earning structure on one of its cards. If I had to guess, the Amex EveryDay Card is a good candidate. It’s a no annual fee card that likely has a similar customer demographic as the Citi Custom Cash and Chase Freedom Flex.
