Swiss Airlines is in the Star Alliance joining the likes of Air Canada, Avianca, and United. Being in an alliance means you can use an airline’s miles in the alliance to fly any other alliance partner. For example, you can redeem Air Canda Aeroplan miles to book Swiss business class.

It’s important to note Swiss Airlines passes on fuel surcharges. Air Canada, Avianca, and United don’t pass on fuel surcharges and are the best loyalty program to use to book Swiss business classes. How to Book Swiss with Points

Air Canada Aeroplan and Avianca LifeMiles are the two best programs to use. Aeroplan requires 60,000 miles edging out Avianca LifeMiles at 63,000 miles if you’re flying from the East Coast. If you’re not flying from the East Coast, Avianca LifeMiles likely requires the least number of Miles. It’s important to keep in mind Avianca doesn’t show the same award space that you may see on Air Canada Aeroplan or United Airlines MileagePlus. Redeeming United miles can make sense if you only have access to Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
