A $149 annual fee is charged to cardmembers of the Avianca Vuela Visa Card. In addition, the card has no foreign transaction fees.

Free checked baggage, discounts on award tickets, and discounts on LifeMiles purchases are the perks of the Vuela Visa Card.

Cardmembers receive a free checked bag for travel between the United States and Central America. Therefore, this card saves money on checked bags if you’re flying between these destinations.

After you spend $12,000 in a calendar year, you receive a 50% discount on award tickets redeemed for travel from the US to Central America or Colombia. After spending $24,000 in a calendar year, you receive an additional 50% discount on award tickets redeemed for travel from the US to Central America or Colombia.

Similar to the Avianca Vida Visa Card, cardmembers receive a 15% discount on purchases of miles with Multiply Your Miles. So, if you regularly purchase miles, this card gives you an automatic discount.

Cardmembers earn 3x LifeMiles on Avianca purchases and 2x LifeMiles at gas stations and grocery stores. All other purchases earn 1x LifeMiles.

The Amex Platinum earns 5x points on airfare, the Chase Sapphire Reserve earns 3x points on airfare, the Citi Premier earn 3x points on airfare and at grocery stores, and the Amex Gold earns 4x points at grocery stores. In other words, there are cards that have equal to or higher earn rates on airfare, gas station, and grocery store purchases than the Vuela Visa Card.
