August was a successful reading month for the books on Amazon that I purchased. I read four books including The Mamba Mentality: How I Play, Who Moved My Cheese? An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life, Washington: A Life, and It’s Your Ship: Management Techniques from the Best Damn Ship in the Navy.
Of these four books, Washington: A Life was my favorite. It also happened to be the longest book at more than 800 pages. The actionable book I read was It’s Your Ship: Management Techniques from the Best Damn Ship in the Navy. There are several takeaways from this book that I’ve already been able to implement.

Ron Chernow absolutely kills in Washington: A Life! This book tells the story of Washington’s early years, his time leading the Continental Army, his role in the Constitutional Convention, and his leadership during his presidency. His views on slavery are also interesting to read, especially right now. While it’s a long book with more than 800 pages, it’s worth every minute.
