The points and miles gravy train continues with the Chase Ultimate Rewards program and its addition of Air Canda Aeroplan as an airline partner. This partner was announced a while back. However, the partnership is officially live with Chase customers now having the ability to transfer points directly to Air Canda Aeroplan.

With the addition of Air Canda Aeroplan, Chase now has 11 airline partners and 3 hotel partners. You could argue that Chase now offers one of the best arrays of airline partnerships after losing Korean Air Skypass. So, let’s see why this partnership is exciting news for Chase customers.

Best Credit Cards to Earn Air Canada Aeroplan Points

Now that Chase and Aeroplan have officially joined forces, Air Canada Aeroplan partners with Amex, Capital One, Chase, and Marriott. The only transferable point program that doesn’t partner with Aeroplan is Citi. Interesting cards in these programs to consider applying for including the Amex Gold Card, Capital One Venture Card, Chase Sapphire Preferred, and Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant.

The Amex Gold Card earns 4x points at restaurants and US grocery stores. You earn 2x miles on all transactions with the Capital One Venture Card. Chase Sapphire Preferred cardmembers earn 2x points on dining and travel. The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant earns 6x points at Marriott. All in all, each of these programs has cards that provide the ability to earn at least 2x points/miles per dollar spent.

Best Ways to Use Air Canada Aeroplan Points

Aeroplan doesn’t pass on fuel surcharges so flying airlines with high fuel surcharges generally represent the best value. Airlines that have high surcharges include Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, and Swiss Air Lines. Each of these airlines is European-based and offers nonstop flights to various cities in the US. In other words, you have plenty of options to book flights between the US and Europe.

Examples of how to redeem Air Canada Aeroplan points for high value include:

  • 70,000 Aeroplan points to fly Austrian Airlines business class between the US and Europe
  • 60,000-70,000 Aeroplan points to fly Swiss business class between the US and Europe
  • 90,000-100,000 Aeroplan points to fly Lufthsansa first class between the US and Europe

Chase Travel Partners

Chase Ultimate Reward’s 11 airline and 3 hotel partners allow cardmembers to transfer points instantly to Aeroplan at a 1:1 ratio. Not all Chase travel partners are created equal, so knowing which partners offer upside in terms of value is key. Generally speaking, Air Canada Aeroplan, British Airways Executive Club, Emirates Skywards, Flying Blue AIR FRANCE KLM, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards, United MileagePlus, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, and World of Hyatt are considered the top programs:

Aer Lingus AerClub

Air Canada Aeroplan

British Airways Executive Club

Emirates Skywards

Flying Blue AIR FRANCE KLM

Iberia Plus

JetBlue TrueBlue

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer

Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards

United MileagePlus

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
