One of the things to appreciate about Chase is the bank’s portfolio of cards including the Chase Sapphire Preferred (card review). Another thing to appreciate is Chase’s willingness to incentivize new and existing cardmembers during the pandemic.

The latest Chase Sapphire Preferred is a grocery store credit. And this makes sense right? More and more of our spending is occurring at grocery stores instead of restaurants. The Chase Sapphire Preferred fee is $95 every year so this credit can help to offset this annual fee.

$50 Grocery Store Credit

A new credit to the Chase Sapphire Preferred (card review) is the grocery store credit. When new cardmembers use their card for grocery store purchases in the first 12 months of account opening, you receive a statement credit up to $50.

Balance transfers, cash advances, traveler’s checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers, or similar betting transactions are excluded from receiving a statement credit.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Benefits

In addition to the grocery store credit, the Chase Sapphire Preferred (card review) offers a slew of benefits including sign-up bonus points; travel, dining, and grocery store bonus earning categories; increased redemption value in the travel portal; Pay Yourself Back feature; DashPass from DoorDash; and Peloton credits.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred bonus is 60,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months of card membership. You earn 2x points on travel and dining purchases as well as earn 2x points on grocery purchases through 4/30/21. Points used to book travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards are worth 1.25 cents per point. The Pay Yourself Back feature allows you to redeem points at 1.25 cents per point on purchases with select merchants. Cardmembers receive a complimentary DashPass from DoorDash membership. $60 in Peloton credits are available through 12/31/21. As you can see, the card comes with a mountain of benefits.
