Inspired by this OMAAT post, I wanted to evaluate travel credit cards I generally use throughout the year. These are cards that I either regularly spend on or simply have because the card benefits outweigh the annual fee.

One key aspect of my travel credit card strategy is business credit cards. These are cards that I’m able to unlock value with because of the card’s earning structure and/or card perks. With that said, let’s see which travel credit cards get the most mileage year to year.

Amex Blue Business Plus

With no annual fee and the ability to earn 2x Amex points on every transaction, the Amex Blue Business Plus continues to be my most valuable business credit card. You are capped on earning up to 2x points on up to $50,000 every year. However, you can earn 100,000 Amex points year after year with the Amex Blue Business Plus.

Chase Sapphire Reserve

One of my most used personal credit cards is the Chase Sapphire Reserve. This card earns 3x points on dining and travel. You are on the hook for a $550 annual fee, however, a $300 travel credit makes the effective annual fee $250.

World of Hyatt Credit Card

This card blurs the line between a card I spend on and one I have for its perks. The World of Hyatt credit card comes with a Category 1-4 free night certificate, five elite qualifying nights, and earns 4x points at Hyatt. In addition, you earn an additional Category 1-4 free night certificate after spending $15,000 in a cardmember year and two elite nights with every $5,000 in spending.

Citi Double Cash Card

The personal credit card equivalent to the Amex Blue Business Plus is the Citi Double Cash card. You earn 2% cashback on all transactions and can convert cashback earned into Citi ThankYou points if you also have the Citi Premier card and/or Citi Prestige card.

Chase Freedom Flex

Rotating bonus categories are what make the Chase Freedom Flex valuable. Every quarter, Chase publishes a new list of categories that earn 5% cashback. Generally speaking, I try to max out the $1,500 limit in 5% cashback categories every quarter.
