There are some excellent cashback credit cards out there including the Chase Freedom Flex. It’s a newer card to Chase that earns 5% cashback in rotating bonus categories. For those of you with the Chase Freedom Card, this card works nearly the same.

Chase recently released announced its 5% cashback bonus categories for Q3 so let’s dive into the details. Before jumping in, head to the Activation Page to enroll your card by September 14, 2021. In the meantime, the Chase Freedom Flex still earns 5% cashback at Gas Stations and Home Improvement Stores for cardmembers who’ve already enrolled.

5% Cashback Chase Freedom Flex Categories

Grocery Stores and Select Streaming services are the two Chase Freedom Flex categories that earn 5% cashback in the third quarter of this year. For Grocery Stores, Target and Walmart are excluded. Separately, Grocery stores include supermarkets, merchants that offer a full-service grocery line of merchandise including a deli and bakery as well as smaller grocery stores.

Select Streaming services is a fairly broad category. The terms and conditions state streaming includes: Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Netflix, Sling, Vudu, Fubo TV, Apple Music, SiriusXM, Pandora, Spotify, and YouTube TV. Essentially, any major platform that offers streaming services earns 5% cashback.

Convert Cashback into Chase Ultimate Rewards

Chase, like Citi ThankYou Rewards, allows you to earn cashback earned into points. With Chase, you can convert Chase Freedom Flex cashback into Chase Ultimate Rewards if you also hold the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, and/or Chase Ink Business Preferred.
